Our Review
The BON CHARGE Red Light Therapy Blanket is designed for someone who wants full-body red light therapy without standing in front of a large panel or turning around halfway through a session. Instead, you lie between two LED-covered mats that zip together around your body, giving your front and back exposure at the same time. At $1,999, it’s one of BON CHARGE’s most expensive red light devices, so we’d only consider spending this much if that convenience is something you’ll genuinely take advantage of.
What makes the Blanket particularly interesting is that you aren’t locked into using it one way. The two sides can be unzipped and used as separate mats, which means you can lie on one, position one over a specific area, use them during stretching or yoga, or even have two people use them separately. It also adds features we don’t get on BON CHARGE’s traditional panels, including adjustable intensity and 10Hz and 40Hz pulsing modes.
There are some practical things we’d want you to think about before spending $1,999, though. The Blanket weighs around 22 pounds, takes up considerable space when fully opened, and isn’t something we’d want to constantly unpack and put away. You’re also physically lying against the device, which creates a very different experience from sitting or standing in front of a panel. In this review, we’ll go through how the Blanket works, what it’s actually like to live with, price, shipping, returns and warranty, and what customers are saying so you can decide whether the added coverage and comfort justify paying this much.
The Red Light Therapy Blanket uses 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared light delivered through 2,520 LEDs across two mats measuring approximately 71 by 31.5 inches. When zipped together, the design allows light to reach both sides of your body during the same session rather than requiring you to treat your front and back separately.
That’s the biggest advantage over BON CHARGE’s Super Max and other large panels. A panel may technically be easier to position in a dedicated wellness space, but you’re still exposing your body from one direction at a time. With the Blanket, you can lie down, zip yourself between the two illuminated surfaces, and get much broader exposure in one session.
The Blanket is rated at greater than 170 mW/cm² of irradiance and allows sessions between 10 and 30 minutes. It also gives you adjustable intensity and 10Hz or 40Hz pulsing modes. We wouldn’t choose it simply because those numbers sound impressive, but the additional controls are worth mentioning because BON CHARGE keeps most of its traditional panels relatively basic.
The two-mat construction is probably our favorite part of the design. You don’t have to zip yourself inside every time you want red light therapy. Separating the mats gives you considerably more flexibility, especially if you want to use one during yoga or stretching, target a specific area, or share the system with someone else in your household.
The experience is very different from standing in front of a red light panel. You can lie down, get comfortable between the two mats, choose your intensity and settings, and let the light reach both sides of your body at once. BON CHARGE recommends sessions of roughly 10 to 30 minutes.
If the idea of standing relatively still in front of a panel several times per week already sounds like something you’ll eventually stop doing, we’d take that seriously. One of the better arguments for the Blanket is that you can turn your session into downtime. Some owners describe using it while relaxing, watching something, or simply disconnecting for 20 or 30 minutes. An independent reviewer who tested it for three months similarly found herself reaching for the Blanket regularly because of how easily it fit into her routine.
There is a compromise, though. At around 22 pounds, this isn’t really a lightweight blanket despite the name. You’ll need somewhere large enough to lay it out, and repeatedly folding, moving, and storing a device this size may become annoying. We’d think about where you’re actually going to use it before ordering. If you have a spare bed, treatment table, or dedicated area where it can stay mostly set up, the ownership experience makes considerably more sense.
We’d also consider whether you like the enclosed format. Some people are going to find lying between the mats much more relaxing than standing in front of LEDs. Others may prefer the freedom of a panel, particularly if they want to stretch, exercise, read, or move around during a session. There aren’t dedicated arm openings either, so multitasking while fully zipped inside isn’t quite as effortless as the blanket concept might initially suggest.
The BON CHARGE Red Light Therapy Blanket currently costs $1,999 with free shipping and is HSA/FSA eligible. It includes both light therapy mats, two controllers, two adapters, two power cords, protective goggles, and the components necessary to use the mats together or separately.
At $1,999, we’d need the full-body format to be the reason you’re buying it. You’re paying more than you would for BON CHARGE’s $1,599 Super Max panel, so the Blanket doesn’t make sense simply because you want a powerful red light therapy device. The value is being able to expose your front and back simultaneously while lying down and having the option to separate the system into two individual mats.
If you mainly want to treat your face, knee, shoulder, or another isolated area, we’d save a considerable amount of money and buy something smaller. Even if you want broad body coverage, a large panel may be a better fit if you’d rather stand or sit during sessions. The Blanket makes the strongest financial case when you specifically want full-body exposure and know that being able to lie down will make you more consistent.
There are no subscriptions or ongoing fees attached to using it. Once you’ve purchased the Blanket, all of its controls and treatment modes remain available without another monthly payment.
BON CHARGE currently includes free shipping with the Red Light Therapy Blanket. We’d appreciate that more here than we would with one of the company’s smaller devices because you’re dealing with approximately 22 pounds of equipment rather than something you can easily throw into a small package.
Before it arrives, we’d decide where you’re going to use and store it. The complete mat measures roughly six feet long when laid out, so make sure the space you’re picturing actually accommodates it comfortably. If your plan involves unfolding it across the floor every day and packing it away afterward, we’d be realistic about whether you’ll still want to do that six months from now.
Once it arrives, use it early. Test both mats, both controllers, the different intensity settings, pulsing modes, and zipped and separated configurations. More importantly, find out whether you actually enjoy lying inside it. With a $1,999 device, we’d rather you answer that question comfortably within the return period than convince yourself you’ll eventually get used to a format you don’t enjoy.
BON CHARGE offers a 30-day return period on the Red Light Therapy Blanket along with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty and lifetime technical support.
The warranty is where we’d like considerably more protection. At $1,999, this is an expensive piece of wellness equipment with 2,520 LEDs, two controllers, two illuminated mats, and associated wiring and electronics. We’d be much more comfortable seeing coverage extend beyond a single year.
We’d also read the return conditions very carefully before ordering, particularly if you’re purchasing during a promotion. There are independent complaints involving BON CHARGE’s return policies and customers being responsible for expensive return shipping on other products. Those aren’t specifically complaints about returning the Red Light Therapy Blanket, so we wouldn’t present them that way, but with a 22-pound $1,999 purchase, we’d want you to know exactly what returning your particular order could cost before checkout.
Feedback on the Red Light Therapy Blanket itself is extremely positive so far. BON CHARGE currently shows an average rating around 4.96 out of 5 from 26 reviews, with owners repeatedly mentioning the convenience of getting broad body coverage while lying down. That’s a relatively small number of reviews for such an expensive product, though, so we’d look at what people are actually saying rather than letting a near-perfect rating make the decision for you.
One of the strongest themes is relaxation. Owners describe the Blanket as easy to use and something they actually look forward to incorporating into their routines. One couple reported using theirs four times per week for more than six months, while another owner specifically praised being able to get full-body exposure in a single session. That’s the kind of feedback we’d care about because convenience is really what you’re paying a premium for here.
Customers also report personal experiences involving workout recovery, stiffness, sleep, skin appearance, and general wellbeing. We’d treat those as individual experiences rather than outcomes you should expect automatically. We’d rather you buy this because the format makes consistent red light therapy easier for you than because someone else’s review promises a particular result.
Independent feedback is more limited but gives us some useful perspective. We found a long-term editorial reviewer who used the Blanket for three months and liked the ability to get full-body exposure while relaxing, although she wished the design had arm openings and identified the high price as its biggest drawback. There are also Reddit users who specifically say they enjoy the BON CHARGE Blanket.
At the same time, broader discussions about red light blankets bring up something we’d seriously consider before choosing this format: weight and handling. Some blanket owners from various brands say these systems become inconvenient because they’re heavy to move and store, while others strongly prefer being able to lie down for their sessions. That’s why we’d treat the form factor as a personal decision rather than automatically calling a blanket better than a panel.
We also found broader complaints about BON CHARGE involving customer service, returns, and warranty experiences across other products. Those aren’t Red Light Therapy Blanket-specific complaints, so they shouldn’t be treated as evidence that there’s something wrong with this device. They are relevant enough that we’d read the policies carefully before making a $1,999 purchase, especially when returning something this large could be more complicated than returning a small wellness device.
The BON CHARGE Red Light Therapy Blanket is ultimately ideal for someone who wants red light therapy to feel more like downtime than another treatment they have to stand through. Being able to lie down and expose your front and back simultaneously solves one of the biggest inconveniences of traditional panels, and the ability to separate the Blanket into two mats gives you more flexibility than the design initially suggests.
But we’d only spend the $1,999 if that experience is genuinely important to you. It’s heavy, requires a good amount of space, and comes with only a one-year warranty. If you already have somewhere convenient to leave it, know you’ll use red light therapy consistently, and would rather lie down for 20 minutes than stand in front of a panel and turn around halfway through, the Blanket could be one of the more comfortable ways to get broad at-home coverage. If you’ll constantly be dragging it out, folding it up, and finding somewhere to store 22 pounds of equipment, we’d seriously consider a panel instead. The best red light device isn’t necessarily the one that covers the most of your body. It’s the one you’ll still be willing to use several months after the excitement of buying it wears off.

The BON CHARGE Red Light Therapy Blanket is ideal for someone who wants broad red light therapy coverage but knows they’ll be more consistent if they can lie down and relax instead of standing in front of a panel. That’s really what you’re paying $1,999 for: the ability to expose your front and back during the same session, get comfortable, and make red light therapy feel more like downtime than another thing you have to do. We also like that the two sides separate into individual mats, so you’re not limited to using it as a blanket every time. The adjustable intensity and pulsing modes give you more control than BON CHARGE’s traditional panels, too. Where we’d want you to think carefully is the practicality of owning it. At around 22 pounds, this isn’t something we’d want to unpack, lay out, and put away several times a week, and we’d definitely prefer more than a one-year warranty on a $1,999 device. If you have somewhere convenient to keep it, already know you’ll use red light therapy consistently, and the idea of relaxing during a full-body session sounds much more appealing than standing in front of a panel and turning around halfway through, the Blanket makes a lot of sense. If you’re mainly targeting a few areas or know the size and weight will make you use it less often, we’d save the money and choose a panel instead. At this price, convenience should be the reason you choose it, because that’s where the Blanket really earns its place in your routine.
