About EMR-TEK

EMR-TEK is a Canadian red light therapy brand based in Toronto. Its lineup includes compact lights, mid-sized panels, and larger full-body systems, with Pro versions available across several models. The brand uses COB LED technology and offers red and near-infrared wavelengths, with its larger devices designed to cover more of the body in a single session.

Our EMR-TEK Review

EMR-TEK is a Canadian red light therapy brand with a lineup that ranges from small portable lights to large full-body systems. Its products are mainly designed for at-home red and near-infrared light therapy, although some of the larger systems also make sense for gyms, wellness centers, and other professional settings.

One of the main differences with EMR-TEK is the type of lighting technology used in its panels. Several models combine traditional LEDs with COB, or chip-on-board, lights. COB places multiple light-emitting components together in a more concentrated area, allowing EMR-TEK to produce considerably higher output from relatively compact devices.

The brand’s current red light panels mainly use 630nm, 670nm, and 830nm wavelengths. This gives users two red wavelengths and one near-infrared wavelength rather than the 660nm and 850nm combination commonly found on red light therapy panels.

EMR-TEK offers several sizes depending on how much coverage is needed. The Firewave is one of the smaller options and is designed for people who want a compact light without purchasing a large panel. From there, the lineup moves into larger panels and full-body systems with considerably more coverage.

The Firewave currently starts at $249.99, although EMR-TEK lists a regular price of $399.99. It uses 630nm, 670nm, and 830nm light and allows the standard LEDs and higher-powered COB lights to be used separately or together.

At the opposite end of the range is the Firehawk, a large full-body system currently listed at $9,999.99. It uses the same three primary red and near-infrared wavelengths but delivers them through a much larger 4,425-watt system with a rolling base and adjustable positioning.

There are also Pro versions of several EMR-TEK panels. These mainly make sense for buyers who care about things like flicker and EMF. The Pro models use Mean Well drivers, which EMR-TEK says reduce EMF and eliminate flicker.

EMR-TEK publishes relatively detailed specifications for its panels, including irradiance, wavelengths, flicker, and EMF. The Firewave, for example, is advertised at around 1,400 mW/cm² directly at the panel face when using its COB technology.

That number shouldn’t be interpreted as the amount of light someone will actually receive during a normal session. Irradiance drops as distance from the panel increases, and EMR-TEK recommends using the Firewave approximately 10 to 18 inches away from the treatment area.

The Firewave also provides a good example of why more power isn’t necessarily something to chase without thinking about how the device will actually be used. EMR-TEK recommends starting with around five minutes using the LEDs before gradually increasing session length and adding the more intense COB output once tolerated. The company also recommends using only LED mode for facial sessions.

Pricing varies considerably across the range. Smaller EMR-TEK devices can cost a few hundred dollars, while larger panels move into the hundreds or thousands. The full-body Firehawk sits at the extreme end at nearly $10,000.

That makes EMR-TEK a brand that can serve very different buyers. Someone who only wants to use red light on their face, knee, shoulder, or another smaller area doesn’t need the same equipment as someone trying to cover most of their body at once.

Customer feedback around the actual lights is generally positive. People frequently mention that the panels feel powerful, are well built, and provide a lot of output for their size. Some owners also mention buying additional EMR-TEK products after having a good experience with their first device.

Customers report using the lights for a wide range of reasons, including exercise recovery, general soreness, joints, skin, relaxation, sleep, and overall wellness. Some reviewers report feeling less stiff or sore with regular use, while others mention improvements in how their skin looks or how they feel after workouts.

Those experiences are individual customer reports rather than guaranteed outcomes. EMR-TEK itself states that its products are general wellness devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent a disease.

EMR-TEK’s return policy is one area buyers should pay close attention to.

The company currently provides a 30-day return period from delivery, but its policy states that the product needs to be unused and returned in its original packaging. EMR-TEK also says that if a device has been powered on or the packaging has been opened beyond what is necessary to inspect it, it generally isn’t returnable.

That means this shouldn’t really be viewed as a 30-day trial. Someone who actually uses a panel for several sessions and then decides it isn’t right for them may not qualify for a standard return. Anyone purchasing specifically because of the return period should read the current terms before opening and using the device.

Warranty coverage depends on the product.

Most standard red light panels receive a two-year warranty, while larger flagship systems including the Firehawk and Ultron receive three years. Smaller products such as the Firefly and Eterno Mask receive one year of coverage.

The longer warranty on the flagship equipment is useful considering how expensive those systems can become. Buyers should still check the individual product page because EMR-TEK doesn’t use one warranty length across its entire lineup.

EMR-TEK advertises free shipping on orders over $145. The company currently states that U.S. and Canadian deliveries generally take around 2 to 5 business days, while international orders can take approximately 5 to 12 business days.

Actual customer experiences with shipping have been much more mixed.

Recent customer reviews include a noticeable number of complaints about orders taking considerably longer than the advertised delivery window. Some customers report waiting several weeks, receiving incomplete orders, or having tracking information that didn’t update properly.

There are also customers who eventually received their products and were very happy with them but still reduced their rating because of how long delivery took. This makes shipping one of the more important concerns to consider with EMR-TEK right now.

Customer support is similarly mixed.

There are plenty of positive experiences. Customers have reported getting help with defective equipment, receiving replacement products or missing components, and having representatives personally follow up to resolve problems. Some negative reviews have later been updated after EMR-TEK stepped in and fixed the issue.

At the same time, other customers report waiting days for responses, sending multiple emails without getting an answer, or struggling to get clear information about delayed orders. There have also been complaints from customers who had trouble resolving refunds or missing shipments.

That mixed experience shows up in the company’s overall ratings. EMR-TEK currently has a 4.0 out of 5 Trustpilot score from more than 500 reviews. Most reviews are positive, but there is also a meaningful number of one-star reviews, many of which center on shipping, order fulfillment, and communication rather than the performance of the lights themselves.

The distinction is important because feedback about the products themselves tends to be stronger than feedback about the ordering experience. Customers commonly praise the build quality, intensity, and performance of the lights even when they have complaints about how long their order took to arrive.

EMR-TEK makes the most sense for someone who prioritizes high-output red light therapy and wants several panel sizes to choose from. The COB technology, 630nm/670nm/830nm wavelength combination, and Pro options also make the brand somewhat different from companies selling more conventional 660nm and 850nm LED panels.

The biggest concerns are less about the specifications and more about the buying experience. The current return policy doesn’t provide much opportunity to actually try a device before deciding whether to keep it, and recent reports of shipping delays and inconsistent communication are worth considering before ordering.

For buyers primarily interested in the hardware, EMR-TEK has some powerful and well-reviewed options ranging from compact lights to true full-body systems. Anyone purchasing should pay just as much attention to the warranty, current return terms, and recent shipping experiences as they do to the unusually high output numbers advertised on the product pages.
